Procrastination

I’m slowly updating this site so that it’s something I actually want to use. I don’t often feel much desire to work on web design, so it’s fallen all the way down to the bottom of my list of priorities lately.

My current plan is to finally choose a nice colour scheme, and to come up with some sort of text-based logo for the header. I’m thinking maybe some kind of blocky text or something PETSCII-esque. I need to figure out a pleasing look for the links too - at the moment there’s a bunch of mismatched styles and it’s hard to discern them from regular text. I think that should get things to a point where it feels complete enough to start writing for.

Currently this web site runs on Hugo, and although I have nothing particularly bad to say about it, it does feel a bit excessive for my needs. The more I use it the more I want to write my own static site generator to use instead. Maybe that’s a project for the upcoming Christmas break.
